The forums are up now, but the rules have changed. Here are the things that are different (in no particular order):

  • You must be registered to post. You can still remain anonymous by choosing a user name that nobody will recognize and choosing to keep your email address private.
  • Because of the large volume of spam accounts that are being created, we've had to ban large blocks of email and IP addresses. If you can't register, or if you registered and your account hasn't been activated after a while, please email us and ask about it.
  • In order to register, you must have a valid email address so the board can send you an activation message, and when you register you'll have to type in the letters in the scrambled picture. This may help cut down on all that wonderful forum-spam.
  • If you try to register with multiple names and have a conversation with yourself, or make it look like you have a fan club, we can tell, and we'll ban you if you do it more than once. Having one alternate identity is ok, because sometimes it's useful to be able to say things as somebody other than yourself in order to avoid biased responses. Just be reasonable about it.
  • You may no longer edit or delete your own posts once you've submitted them. We chose to do this because it leaves us in an awkward spot when somebody complains about something on the site and the original poster doctors it up before we can see what was said. This means you should use the preview button before you submit your post.
  • If you're posting stuff here, we ask that you restrict the content to things you have actually experienced first-hand.
  • If you show that you can't behave yourself, expect to get banned. How many times you have to misbehave before getting banned depends on what you're doing and how much of an idiot you are about it when you're asked to stop.

We're not doing this to be jerks, we're doing it to help make sure this website stays online.
